There is a product called Bio-Septic solution you can get it at your local pharmacy. Make sure it is a good earring gold preferably. Yes, clean the earring really well and sterilize it in boiling water for a couple of minutes, wait until it cools and put it back in your ear. Clean the ear with warm soapy water. Then take the Bio-Septic solution and cotton ball, soak with Bio-Septic solution swipe over the ear and turn the earring. Do this several times a day. Don't use alcohol you can get alcohol poisining so not a good idea. Good luck

Well, first of all, it would probably be beneficial to find a type of earrings that won't get too infected. It really depends on how newly they are pierced. If they are newly pierced, you could just wait it out, while turning them by grabbing the back and twisting a couple times every day. Also you should be washing them with a peircing solution. Rubbing alcohol will work, but it slows the healing time. If they are just a bit red, they will probably be fine to wait it out while cleaning them, but if they are getting too swollen, just take the earrings out. You could try putting them back in after it seems to have cleared up. Good luck!

Take the studs out, wash the area with alcohol, wash the studs as well, put them back in. Do this twice a day until the infection is gone.
The alcohol will burn, but that's because it's fighting infection.
Hydrogene peroxide may do the same thing, and tingle instead of burn.
Also, make sure youre wearing quality studs, something like hydro-something. Check w/your local stores that will know.
