I am getting over mine from 2 weeks ago. My opinion, negotiate if you can first. Honestly, if you sense a fight in on the horizon, TALK IT OUT. I don't think you have the guts to fight if you ask this. No disrespect to you, but stay out of the fight. If you worry about a black eye, you would be scared if your face got popped hard enough to bleed. Sweets, when you fight, knucks or other bones break, blood comes out, you lose your wind, you look like shoot for for a few weeks, any it HURTS the next day worse than you can believe if you are not a fighter. And that's NOT to even talk about how you feel after emotionally. For me, if I fight too hard, I hurt someone bad, ease up on them, YOU get hurt instead. If you don't feel bad for hurting them the next day, you don't have a soul in your body. Seriously, if you have to fight, DON'T!!! If you have no choice, file a police report so it is documented. If YOU are the aggressor, shame to you. Something people never tell you when you get into a fight, is how much a couple of months in jail sucks, not having a black eye. Would you like a strip search daily from a stranger cop because you had to be tough... just think about it.

Well the black eye is bruising and caused by bleeding under the skin. There is nothing you can do avoid getting one from a punch except avoiding being punched in the first place.

dodge the punch. make them go for your mid section. of course if you knock them out first you won't have to worry about a black eye now would you?
