Well,
I'm going to join the United States Air Force, and I would like people's opinion as to whether you think it's a good idea to join after I graduate high school in May, or go to college first.
everyone in my family wants me to go to college first, but I really really want to enlist after high school. but, i don't want to piss them off, and I want to make everyone happy..

If you join right after high school, you will be an enlisted person. You can never attain the ranks of an officer without a college education.
Go to college first and major in computer science or engineering. The Air Force is looking for technical graduates because of all the technology they develop.
But either way, the Air Force is cake. I have been in the Army and the Air Force and you can't go wrong with the Air Force. They enjoy a quality of life that is superior to the other branches because they have the most budget to work with.
Oh, don't forget to avoid the jobs that have an excess of personnel because they are downsizing right now. You might end up right back in the civilian world and in the reserves part time.

I joined the United States Air Force right after High School and I am working on my BA degree while I am serving and after I get out of the Military I will have my Degree 6 years military experience and the GI bill to pay for my Law School Degree
It is a great experience and I am better off for it
Also, I HAVE NEVER HAD TO CLEAN AN AIRCRAFT
The Man who answered before me is a moron
The Air Force treats its Enlisted better than any other branch of service

You can't make everyone happy. Live your life so you will be happy. I tried college right out of high school in 1982. That lasted all of 6 months because I majored in drug and alcohol abuse. I ended up in the Army. After almost 8 years I went back to college. After growing up I managed a 4.0 my first 3 semesters.

You can join the Air Force after college, but often going to school after the military may not be as easy- you life may be considerably different (married- kids- etc- you will grow up allot faster)
Going to school after the military can often be very frustrating as you will be a little bit older and a whole bunch more mature than your fellow students.

I would go to college first! If you want, go to a college or university that has an Air Force ROTC program!
It isn't about making them happy. It is the right thing to do! I wish I went to college before I went into the service on the day I turned 17!

I served in the Navy, if you did well in high school then go directly into the air force. I scored a high average on my Navy test so got a pretty good job as a radarman. If you are not so educated you could end up scraping paint on the outside of the ship.

I applaud your desire to place your life on the line for something you love (your country). As a vietnam veteran I too had a desire to serve my country at a very young age, but that same life experience is what screams out at me to advise you to (1) finish growing up, having all those experiences afforded to a person of their late teens, and early twenties. (2) obtain an education so you will have something to offer the military. (3) learn what it is to truly be citizen of this country, and why it is so important that people like you should give so much of your self, and should you still feel the need to serve your country you will truly have something to bring to the table. So my answer to you is get your college education first!

If you have the grades and the money, go to college first. Going back to school is harder the older you get. I applaud you wanting to serve your country, I think that joining after college is just as admirable.

Dude, go to college, take AFROTC(yea that does exist, look it up). If you enlist right after high school, they will make you clean planes for your entire career. Believe me, you'll hate it.
Sorry for automatically saying dude. My mistake. Force of habit.
