I sold a motorcycle as a private seller. The bike worked fine when I had it. I sold it thinking it was as-is. I got a call 3 hours later saying it broke down on the side of the road. He wants me to pay for the repairs. I agreed to go and look at it, and to try to repair it. Am I responsible for this? Please help!
P.S it is in Ca

If you purchased a used vehicle from a dealership, and it broke-down on the way home, what would you do?

I don't know for sure but I've watched enough People's court to say - hope you had some sort of contract. I would also assume when a person purchases something from a person that the item (other than like a home) would be considered as is. Good luck with that though.

No, you sold it in good faith that it was in working order or as-is. Once money has changed hands then the problem is his alone.

Not unless you gave a guarantee. How do you know he didn't Hot Rod it or over-rev it, or something?
