For a 9 year old, a $20 webcam will do just fine. Resolution leaves much to be desired, and she'll have a limited range (5-50 ft) for a decent picture. But as a training aid, to develop her composing eye for a low price, it's not bad.

What brands? WHat models? Do you mean like $20 cheap or $100 cheap? Those little cheap $20 ones are garbage, try to find at least $100 if you want decent pictures a lot of times you can find decent cameras on sale for a little less then $100 Here's a decent camera for a good price

The cheapest good camera is probably the 2.1 Sakar Digital for $49

We bought my son a Nikon CoolPix - very compact, easy to use, takes great pictures. It was around $150. I work for a school district, and we use this at many of the elementary schools because it is a nice size for smaller hands. It fits easily into a pocket or backpack.

I bought a $30 one for my grand daughter..it worked...but it was mostly fuzzy....then I bought one for her (6 yo) that cost about $90 with some features....she loves it....the pics are good and it's simple to use for her..not too many features for her her to get confused over.

The cheap ones work it is just not as high quality of a picture .
