I am thinking about doing a straight pipe from the turbo back on my 07 duramax and need to know if it will effect the motor in any way? I have always been told that the less backpressure on a turbo motor the better.

Straight pipe it, you will be fine. It will sound like a jet, have cooler EGT's and be a better system. Especially if you get a 4" downpipe system like what MBRP and Silverline have to offer. You can shoose to have the muffler or go completely straight. I have the muffler in and no catalytic converter and it sounds great!

I have a duramax with converter pulled off and straigtpiped. The less restrictive exhaust with lower egt's by about 50-100 degrees and give you a little more power. It will not void your warranty in any way. It may set an EGR DTC trouble code due to the loss in backpressure.

you just paid forty grand for a new truck and now you want to void the warranty? Not smart. Backpressure is a requirement for optimal running efficiency.

you need the back pressure to get the turbo boost from it,remove it ,and the turbo wont be as effective, the factory designed this system to work good together, alter it,and you could affect the warranty on it,good luck,i hope this help,s.

Hey! Eric is right again. He knows his stuff! In addition to his answer, there is an EGR block off plate that you can buy.

Duramax's RULE! Enjoy your new toy! ;)
