You poor thing! It's so horrible that something like that is happening to his eyes. Try this: Tell him to close his eyes as tightly as he can. Explain to him that unless he wears his glasses, that may be all he ever sees forever. He won't see mommy, daddy, grandma or anybody again. If that seems too scary, go out and buy to or three pairs of "fake" glasses and you and your spouse wear them. Kids that young like to imitate their adults because it makes them feel big. Say," Look, we wear our glasses!" As time goes on, he may become more comfortable. Good luck!

Luckily I didn't have any problem getting my 3 yr old to wear his glasses, but I was really expecting that I would. It sounds like you've tried lots of stuff. The only thing that comes to mind is what the director of my son's school did with a problem child. They actually set a timer for 10 minutes and made a huge deal if he was good when the timer went off. You could do the same thing, and if he's still wearing the glasses then make a huge deal out of it with tons of praise. Eventually you can space the timer out further. Good luck!!

I had a similar problem with my son he was a little older than your child.
believe it or not it had to do with the prescription it was wrong and actually made my child see worse.
I would suggest you check that out
if it is the correct one and still have the problem then you just have to be real persistent with him. And I hate to say it but Punish him for not wearing the glasses and reward when he does.
The punishments that I used were no TV, he couldn't go to friends houses, and stuff like that.
When my son threw his glasses in the trash I made him dig them out. he was 7 and threw them away at school so he had to go through the entire dumpster never threw them away again.
He threw then in the drive way hoping some one would run them over lol I know your pain and really you just have to do the battle punish and reward

In our preschool we have had a couple children that wear glasses.
One little boy was always messing with his and taking them off. His mother finally switched her tactic and instead of using a reward system she punished for not wearing them. If she saw him when they were off or if the teacher reported that he had taken them off she spanked him. Even if you don't believe in spanking you could have a loss of privledges - no movie that night, no bedtime snack, something has to be worth keeping the glasses on.
Another thing you can try is havng the doctor tell him very seriously that he must wear his glasses. Have the doctor tell him that he'll be checking up with him to make sure that he isn't takng them off. Doctors are pretty good at this type of thing and it is amazing how a child will listen to them.
Another thought is a police officer. Have a kind police officer stop by and have a talk to him about needing to wear his glasses.
Good Luck. SD

Oh gosh I've never dealt with this one...and my daughter was in glasses at 14 months! We had a band that went through the legs of the frames around her head that she couldn't get off easily but I didn't have any problems with her taking them off. Maybe it was because she was more able to identify with me because I wore (still do) glasses, or maybe it could be that the first time she put them on she smiled widely and said "Hi mommie I can see you now!" All I can suggest is that if you and your husband don't wear them then get cheap sets of reading glasses for yourself and start wearing them. Make sure he knows that mommie and daddy need to wear glasses in see just like he does and that without the glasses they won't be able to see HIM. Maybe it will work.

Try telling you son that you're going to play a game with him. Say that if he keeps his glasses on when you tell him to, he wins. Encourage him, and if he still doesn't listen to you, say that if he does it until the end of the year, you will give him a treat.

Time-out. Put him in time out for taking off his glasses. If he wants to come out of time out then he needs to put his glasses on.
If he hid his glasses then he can go to time out until he is ready to get his glasses on put them on.
If he breaks his glasses then his favorite toys need to be taken away.
