Is the motor bad? If so and the car is in great shape get a salvage engine with lower miles. If the car is well worn all over get a new car.

In my opinion,probably not! The rest of the car might start falling apart around the new engine. The car has a LOT of miles on it.
It might turn into a real money pit.
My daughter had an Escort. And once things started going out,it seemed like everything started to fail.

It has done a lot of miles and there probably would be other things starting to go as well. You should try and get a newer model car.

Unless you can get a low mielage used motor really cheap and install it youeself, its not worth putting 5 - 700 into this car, let"er go..

check with local salvage yards they may have a 99 escort that got t-boned with 80,000 miles on it, If they sale you it's motor for 500.00 , and it cost 500.00 to get it put in, I would say it's worth it.

It depends on the condition of the car and your intentions. If the car is pristine, and you wish to fix and sell it, then yes. If your fixing it to keep..expect to pump money into it, everything is about worn out..trans, steering, fuel pump, etc. etc.

its gonna cost u at least 1000 bucks. your trans is probably ready to go too. chekc out autotrader. i dont think it is worth a new engine in this car.
