You can't put the container in the freezer.

You have to line small baggies with cheesecloth and fresh lemon rinds, and freeze the sour cream one teaspoon at a time.

It's so much easier to buy a fresh container!

One thing that is not good frozen is sour cream...yuck!

I have not tried this, but I have read before (somewhere) that it's okay to freeze the sour cream. It changes the texture of it, but if you are using it in a recipes, it's fine. You wouldn't want to use your frozen sour cream for baked potatoes.

I've been meaning to try this for myself but haven't yet.

When my son was younger he would stand on the bottom of the frig while opened to look around. Somehow he managed to always turn up the temp when doing this. My sour cream would always freeze. When thawed it would be curdled. So the answer is no.

I've done it before..it's a little watery when thawed, but stir it up good...But I would'nt freeze for very long...say a month at most..I use sour cream in baking and casseroles and such..Never used it as a dip after being frozen..but I couldn't tell any difference..but I only had it frozen for about that month...
