YES, but watch for splinters if he breaks the bone apart.. that is the only real danger...
I have German Shepherds and give raw bones to them only... better safe that sorry is my motto

I certainly wouldn't. Any kind of real bones have the potential to splinter and poke holes in your dog's GI tract. Nylabones are a fantastic treat to chew on or raw hides will work too.
Or, if you're simply looking for a treat for your dog why not make him some treats? A super simple recipe is to take a pound of liver (I can usually pick up a pound in the frozen meats by the turkeys in the grocery store for $1.59/lb) and place it in a pan with just enough water to cover it. Let it simmer on the stove top for 15-20 minutes. Remove it from the pan and cut it into small chunks. At this point my dog is usually trying to climb up my leg because she's so excited so I usually give her a couple of pieces as I'm cutting it. Place the pieces on a cookie tray lined with tin foil for easy clean up. Put the tray in the oven at about 200 degrees for roughly an hour or until they are mostly dry and hardened but not burned. Let cool and store in a baggy. My pup will do anything for her liver treats. :o)

NO. Never give your dog a bone that has been cooked, cured, smoked or whatever. Raw bones are the best especially if it is loaded with meat and fat.

Personally i dont give any bones to my dogs.
On occasion i might give one a big large ham-bone thats too big for her to choke on, and then i still watch her to make certain she doesnt overdue it.
Contrary to popular belief bones are not good for dogs because when they chew them up and swallow them they can splinter, and these sharp pieces can cut up their throat or digestive system. They can also clog up their digestive system very bad as well. We just about lost a dog years ago due to this-when we didnt know any better at the time. Her digestive track was completely clogged up with chicken bones.

no i definitely wouldnt, as when the dog chews the cooked bone it crumble easy and splinters could get caught in its throat or intestine. a nice raw bone is ideal as it is not brittle

Only beef bones are very good for dogs - they are durable and thick, and hard to splinter. Other bones are splinter prone, and it may be ingested by your dog. I would advise against it, and if you do wish to give bones to your dog in the future it may be advisable to contact a veterinarian first for advice.
