I spent a lot of money on application fees and visiting colleges for interviews. I was hoping to deduct that as an education expense. Does anyone know if this is legal? Thank you!

Education expenses are tuition, college fees (but not application fees which are to a third party) and possibly residency costs

No. Even Grad college costs, books and kit costs are actually not deductible, except you have a activity and this education improves your skills on your present activity. Then, you are able to deduct it as worker business enterprise costs in case you itemize your deductions and is situation to 2% AGI shrink.

No, those expenses aren't deductible as educational expenses, nor deductible as anything else.
