Mostly it depends on how many fathers the litter has. Unlike humans, cats can have multiple fathers to one pregnancy. Meaning if the first cat only manages to fertilize 4 eggs, a second cat can come along and fertilze more, and possibly a third if there are enough eggs

I remember my sisters cat had about 11 and then about 8.....but that was a huge cat who really liked the boys...if you know what I mean....my parents recently hooked up with a cat that was ferril.not sure about the spelling, but she was young and little and she had only four so.......i think it's a crap shoot....how ever many .....who knows.....????????...I do agree that if you want to avoid this in the future that it is a very good idea to have her spayed, it is really good for them in the way that they don't have to have more kittens,,,,it is tough on them, normally they are such great moms too.....so.....to answer....it depends on what her little body is up for....good luck....hopefully you can either keep them or find good homes...no sooner than 8 weeks....wishing you well.....cat lady here...!!!!

If I remember correctly, the size of a litter she was born in will have an effect on the size of litter she may have. The biggest litter I have seen has been 8, but 3-4 is average.

A vet will be able to give you a estimate by feeling her abdomen. My vet told me last week that my cat was going to have 2-3 and she had 2 last night : )
