does it matter what type of car it is?

If the car is a toyota corola or camry, newer than a 1995, and was well maintained and driven wisely for the 100,000 miles, then it is a good buy. But get it checked out thoroghly by a trusted mechanic before purchasing. If the current owner objects to you oing this, then don't purchase. They are hiding defectsz that they don't want you to know about.

P.S. I thought hyundai was the korean junk version of honda...

I wouldn't worry about a car with 100,000 on it. I have never owned a vehicle with less than 150,000. I have had 4 cars that I sold after getting them above 250,000. Todays cars can go for a long time. If you buy one, check to see if the owner kept service records. Oil changes and routine maintenance at regular intervals will help you get many more miles out of the car.

Back in the seventies and eighties 100,000 miles was about all you would get out of a car, but now that is about half way into a car's life. It really doesn't matter what brand of car it is, as long as it is a car from about '91 or newer you should be fine with that mileage.

It really depends on the car. Some makes hold up very well with high milage and others don't.

A BMW with 100,000 may be a very good car while a Saturn with 100,000 will be ready for the recycler!

We were at the mechanic today facing $1,000 bill for a 135K hundai. The guy said it is definitely worth getting fixed , he sees them going to 200K like Artsy just said.

Not at all if its Japanese. Honda, Nissan, Toyota will all go well over 200,000. Most US and Euro cars have troubles over 100K.
