Long ears, very sensitive to what's going on around them, including mood of owners.
Mine is excellent with children, has never bitten anyone, even when a kid fell ON her, and yanked himself up clinging to her back fur. Will lick anyone else to death.
Excellent with cats, if introduced properly.
Very quiet (if trained properly - like any dog). Can go from sleep of the dead to major hyperactivity in the space of 0.00008 seconds! Can stay home, or go for long walks.
Feet fur have a tendency to mat, at least on mine, as its longer.
Needs plenty of grooming due to fine hair that will mat.
Ears need a little more cleaning as they are flopped down.
There is a chance of a cocker getting cherry eye (apparently its in the breed). Mine has it, but does not bother her.
Totally silly and crazy dog! (but that's most dogs no? :)
If I were to pick a dog again, I'd definitely go with a cocker, BUT, I'd check the breeders very very carefully, and do my homework. Mine came from an abusive place, so I got lucky. But the next one... well. Ask questions, and don't be afraid to, if you're thinking of getting one.
The only down side of her is she can be stubborn, when she wants to. Check her out here ->http://s161.photobucket.com/albums/t226/aladybughugs/ under Goldie.

I had a champion bred golden cocker for nine years.
She was a gorgeous dog so => good looking!
Fur was baby fine and it matted like crazy.
Aloof personality. She was fine with kids, but she wasn't that friendly.
Good at learning tricks.
Nice size for a small house with yard.
Not too hyper, not too loud with barks.
Good on walks.
Piddle problem. Had a bladder problem and couldn't control her pee when she got excited. We still kept her though. We just didn't pet her right when we came home because she would get too excited.
She died of a liver problem.
She was a nice dog, but a little too aloof for me. My 8 lb yorkie was a lot more fun! (My yorkie was only good with adults though-- no kids.)

Mines good with kids, but doesn't like being pulled around. Thats probably the main reason that they will nip kids, especially if their ears are pulled.
They are very affectionate and tend to bond more strongly with one person.
