Okay, So I FINALLY got up the nerve to go to an allergist (I'm deathly afraid of needles!)... even then it took everything I had not to totally freak out with the skin test and also the skin injections! So my question... is it really worth it to do the allergy shots? My allergist thinks so... I guess I'm scared too, b/c when I was a kid, a teacher in our school died from allergy shots! Some encourgement and advice please! :) thanks!

I have a 9 year old who has been on allergy shots for 3 years and she was deadly scared of needles at first. But once she started to feel better after taking the shots she reminds me. Yes it is worth it. I carry and epi pen around with me all the time incase my child has a sevear reaction to anything including the shots. But it is a freak thing to die from a shot. I cannot tell you what to do but my child thanks it is worth it to take them. She is not as sick as much and does not end up in the hospital or dr. office.

The allergy shots works wonders. Everyone is different, so the experience one person has may not be the same for you. You should try it- it takes time to tell- but for me- worth it!

it helps, but if you are scared of shots, I would talk to the allergist and tell him that you are uncomfortable with shots and see if you can take allergy pills and nasal spray instead.
