My daughter is obsessed with neopets i dont really understand what it is but my main concern is, is it safe? And what is it about?What do they do on there?

Nothing is safe to be obsessed about, but inasfar as objectionable material, Neopets has none.
Unfortunately there are some nefarious sites about on the internet that claim to offer free neopoints. Most of these are simply phishing for email addresses but there will of course be one or two that have far darker motives. Just make sure that your daughter understands that she is only to play neopets at the official neopets site, and to always ask you first if she wants to visit another site that claims to be about neopets.
I stress that this is not a problem with neopets but with the internet in general. The best thing to do is monitor your daughter's internet activity and educate her about internet safety.
Her school or your local internet enabled library can provide you with a good starting point about internet safety.

Yes and no. Any obsession carried too far can be dangerous. The neopets site has areas where you can make and care for your neopets, places to play games and sell items collected in the games to earn points, places where you can spend your points to get more things for your pets.... Those areas are pretty harmless from what I've seen with my DD's.
But it also has an area that allows for chat and/or messages from other neopets users. I chose not to set my DD's up for that area because a friend of mine's DD received very questionable messages from strangers on there. It's something you need to police just like any other message area of the Internet.

neopets itself is a safe site. they have little pets they take care of. they play games to win points to purchase fake items to take care of the animals and such. all the games are very child-appropriate. the worst thing is that you can battle other neopets but think pokemon in the level of violence. they're very strict over their chat rooms. only thing I'd worry about is that she's obsessed with it.

You play games to earn neopoints to buy your neopet food, clothing, build shelter and anything else to take care of the pet. In my opinion it is safe.
I would much rather her be obsessed with neopets, than be on drugs or be obsessed with sex.

neopets is an online site where you can raise pets online, play games, and win points to buy food, homes, and accessories for your animals. neopets has rules about giving out personal info, but you know people could still be giving out that kind of info. as far as a site goes, it's safe, good fun. just make sure she knows not even to give out her real name. ask her to show you her pets, favorite games, and any friends if she has them on the site, then ask her if she can tell you how to be safe online....she should be excited to share it with you!! log on to the site yourself and get a feel for it. it will mean a lot to her if you know about what she's interested in, and it will give you peace of mind.

There is nothing wrong about neopets. No predators can even talk to your child, and even other children can't either. This website is totally safe.

Yeah, it's harmless when sized up with something like witchcraft. Just try to keep her from being too obsessed by encouraging her to spend time with friends (w/o neopets), play outside, draw pictures, etc.

it is absolutely safe for anyone. Neopets is virtual and there is no violence or anything. Its mostly games, shopping, looking and exploring, doing quests, earning money, and collecting items. If you have time feel free to browse the webiste at www.neopets.com

well i was obsessed w/ neopets for about 2 mo...... basically is an online world...... u adopt wierd pets and play games and can make houses for ur pets...... and depending on what age group u r in some things r restricted.... such as neomail (email) and stuff like that..... u can talk to ppl on there but i'm guessing she is young so its probably restricted for her...... check out the site urself.... get an account..... its free...... check it out urself so u can decide urself..... u can also check out ur daughters account..... i personally think its harmless......

neopets is basicaly a game were u get to take care of virtural pets play games, eran points buy things, battle with other players its safe
