Because you don't buy juice oranges to eat!
Juice oranges are very liquidy. They taste a bit different than naval or other "snack" oranges.
Regular oranges, on the other hand, are not good for juicing.
I was in Visalia, CA for a conference. The hotel used regular oranges to make the juice. It was beyond outstanding! I have not been able to find anything close to it.

Check the nutritional value ingredients on the label and see if there are any added ingredients like preservatives.
Here we must have 100% Orange Juice not stretched out with other juices. usually apple.
In the supper market true orange juice will be in the chiller and not on the shelves and will have a best by date that isn't very far in the future 7-10 days

If the juice comes from an orange, than it is 100% orange juice. I like to have mine freshly squeezed and it tastes really good.

You have to read the ingredients list on the package. Most orange juice that say's 100% is probably orange juice concentrate which is different from freshly squeezed O.J.
My advise is read the ingredients and never believe the front of a package.

If it is labeled 100% juice then yes it is 100% --that's the food law.
However these bottled juice's have been pasteurized for protection.
Once you heat a fresh product it is not going to be like the FRESH product so yes you do taste the difference.
However if we tried to ship fresh all over the country it would not taste so good because of the time it takes to ship and the possibility of illness.

When the juice is fresh and unpasturized with lots of pulp, it tastes more like an orange. Many of the citrus juice products on the market today are made from fruit that comes from somewhere else other than where you live, so they freeze it and reduce it. Upon reconstitution, the flavor is not that fresh.

Commercial OJ, even if it is 100% juice, is blended and filtered and some of the water content is removed to make a more even-textured and commercially-viable beverage.

Well, that's only if you get one with high pulp.
Orange juice does have Vitamin C, believe it or not.
