I have a back molar that has an exposed nerve and the pain is through the roof.I went to the ER today and was given Ibuprofen. I would be ok with this if it only worked. I am frustrated because the asumption is made that every one is a pain pill addict so unless you have a severed limb, they don't give anything to handle pain.

Is there anything that can handle this pain ?

Try clove oil. You can buy it at the pharmacy. It is all natural.
You have to buy at pharmacy because it is strong! You need to be careful not to swallow. It definitely works and isn't a pill, is natural.

Hope this helps. I know what a pain toothaches can be. Take care of yourself. Also ice can help take away the pain. You might try running your hands under hot water too, blood will rush too your hands instead of in your mouth (works for headaches), that is only a temporary relief though.

Try this for temporary relief: on the side of your mouth that the bad tooth is apply an ice cube or a clothes pin to the web between your thumb and index finger.

If the bad tooth is on the right side of your mouth apply this remedy to the right hand web area.

This is a very old but proven temporary fix.

go to walgreens or your local drug store, they sell temporary fillings. Stuff it in the tooth where the nerve is exposed, take the RX from the emergency room and go to the dentist on Monday.

The link below shows the product. Dentemp is the name.

You can get a strong string and afix it on the tooth. Tie the other end to a pole and get in your car and drive fast.
