I was the same way. After high school i started gaining weight and didnt know why. After thinking about it i realized it was because i didnt have P.E. anymore which was 45 min of exercising 5 days a week. I also got a car and didnt ride my bike or skatebored anymore, and i stopped walking half a mile to the 7-11 to buy a coke. I would drive there instead and didnt burn any calories.

Your activity level has dropped and you've grown up (gotten a job, had to "miss" meals) this dramatically affects your metabolism. If you want to get it back, get active and eat 6-10 times a day. If you can take it, get some "raw" foods and snack all day long. I carry a bag of mixed flours, fruits, beans around with me all day long and snack constantly. Find a Whole Foods in your area and do some research into raw/organic foods.
