first order is to get manifold gages to check the high&low side pressures based on out side temp low side should be higher than 35 psi +/- 2 and high side should be 120 +/- 5 this is at idle ..
note i live in a humid state (md) your reading may be very different based on location and ambient temp oh and its still winter here

how do you know the freon level is ok, It's measured by pressure on the low side. If the pressure is low and the compressor is turning, then it is bad compressor or low freon
