Was there anything at all before the the Jewish torah on earth? Or is that the day the earth was created?

Is the history of the earth seriously only as old as the tiny sect of Jews on a strip of land able to remember it?

The earth is older than when the Torah existed. Think of the story of Abraham. Although he is known as the first Jew, his father was an idol-maker. There were thousands of years of history from the cavemen forward. Judaism started Monotheism, not the begininning of civilization.

The Torah was written appx 2000 to 2500 BC during the time of the Jewish people's exodus from Egypt under Moses.

The books of the Torah say that men existed before the book was written. Genesis is essentially a condensed history of man.

In Jewish tradition, yes. Orthodox and Conservative Judaism (as well as some Christian denominations) hold that God revealed the Torah to Moses at Mt. Sinai. In Judeo-Christian tradition, the entirity of Genesis and approximately 1/4 of Exodus occur before the Torah is revealed.

The Torah was written by Moses while on Mount Sinai from the direct revelation of God. It told the story of mankind from the beginning of creation to the death of Moses (where Joshua picked up the tale). So yes, there was alot of history before the book was actually committed to stone writing.
