Atheists like to say they have "no belief" in God, when in actuality the "believe" there is no God. This belief requires faith.

Sorry, guys, there is nothing reasonable or logical about atheism. The evidence for God is staggering, just study the field of apologetics. One perfect example is the fact that the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ IS an immutable fact of history, and completely provable beyond a reasonable doubt. Athiesm is a completely irrational belief system.

I know I have a belief system.

I don't call atheism a religion; I call it a religious philosophy.

Just like you think there is evidence for God, I think there is evidence against God.

Why asking for evidence and proof is considered faith?

Does it take you any faith to NOT believe in Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, or Leprechauns?

I'm gonna classify this to you:
Weak Atheism requires nothing (since we are born atheistic)
Strong Atheism requires reasoning, logic, and common sense

edit: "One perfect example is the fact that the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ IS an immutable fact of history"

Yeah sure, do not deny the immutable fact of Sponge Bob's Opposite Day

Some actively 'believe' that there are no deities.
Some passively simply do not believe there are deities.

This is the distinction between weak atheism and strong atheism. Strong atheists do have a belief, or, if they have bothered deducing/inducing a logical conclusion, a knowledge that there are no deities. Weak atheists, sometimes called agnostic atheists, do not have a belief.

I am a strong atheist without belief -- I have looked at the universe, and based on the evidence, come to the logical conclusion that there is no deity. This is not belief or faith, this is acknowledgement and knowledge (notice the fact both of these come from the same root word).

------------------

You say there is evidence for the existence of a deity. You will find my profile allows email to be sent. Please send me this 'evidence'.

The fact that it is impossible to have free will in the universe in which we find ourselves renders any form of deity a logical impossibility.

well...I agree with you except for the fact that you are basing judgement on a group rather than individual approach. There might be some Atheists who realize they have a belief system that there is no God. However, the complexity of the question would be absurd. Unless you rephrase it saying, "If you are Atheist, do you have a belief system" and then tell all the one's that said "no" that they are confused.

I can see where you're coming from, but an atheist may respond that God is inherently contradictory, and couldn't exist any more than an invisible, pink unicorn could. (How can something be invisible and pink at the same time?)

Omnipotence is at odds with itself, since in order to be truly omnipotent, you'd have to be capable of doing things that directly contradict each other. (The classic example : Can an omnipotent being create a rock so heavy, that he can't lift it? Regardless of whether you answer yes or no, you effectively place a limit upon the being in question. Limits = not omnipotent.)

Consider yourself a lucky person. I never heard anyone say something like that with so much conviction.
I disagree with you about the facts but it is amazing to me that you can have so much conviction about something that can only be sustained through faith, especially when you say that the evidence is "staggering".
As far as my feeble mind can think, if something is so evident, there should be no questions about it.
Evidence consists of facts or events that can perceived with one or more of our five senses, by different witnesses.
I wonder what staggering evidence you have been fortunate to perceive.

Well, if you're going to define "no belief" as "belief" then you will admit that you have a "belief system" about the Loch Ness Monster, UFOs that live behind my ears and a belief system that I am a diety from Sector 38 that deserves your worship.

Is this like Opposite Day on Sponge Bob Square pants?

By your reasoning: Not believing there is a monster under your bed or in your closet that only shows himself at night means that you're following a non-monster belief system? That's ridiculous.

Not believing in silly childish things is just being rational. It doesn't require a belief system.

It doesn't require faith. "Faith" is belief with no evidence. The whole reason we don't believe in God is because there's absolutely NO evidence of God.

If you're such a believer in Jesus, then why do YOU ignore Him? Yes, I mean YOU. Why don't you sell everything and follow Jesus, as he requests in the Bible? He says it MORE than once, and He's very clear about it.
In Luke 18, in order to get to Heaven, Jesus says to a certain ruler who asked how to get to Heaven, "You know the commandments. Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor thy father and thy mother." When the ruler said he had kept all those since he was a boy, Jesus replied, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven. Then come and follow me."
Yes, He said you must SELL EVERYTHING. No, He wasn't joking, and no, He didn't say "sell everything except..." He said, "SELL EVERYTHING." And He says you must FOLLOW HIM. You must become His disciple. In order to become His disciple, Jesus says, "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and his mother, his brothers and sisters, and yes, even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple."
So now you have to HATE your father and mother, not HONOR them, (so which is it?) and again, He reiterates that you have to SELL EVERYTHING you have. (He says it in at LEAST two different places, so you KNOW He's serious!) That means YOU, TOO! Now I'm sure you are going to try to make excuses as to why 'He didn't mean it THAT way' so that you don't have to sell everything, but yes, He meant it THAT way. Don't try to bend what He said to fit what you WANT it to mean...you're the one saying we must believe in Him and follow what He says. Are you going to sell everything you have? I doubt it. And why?
The reason is simple: Jesus and God are imaginary, and you know it. If Jesus was really the son of God, and you really believed it, then you would do what he says. You're choosing not to believe Jesus's own words, so don't tell us what to believe.

From everything I have seen and everything I know, I can say that there is no god. i don't need faith I know. You may think it is faith because you don't understand what I do, but it isn't, its knowledge. Religions need faith to function, without they would have fallen apart years ago. Faith is the weakest arguement for anything, if you don't have any proof of your point people will laugh at you if you say "oh I have faith".
