I have a Panasonic rice cooker that's probably about 17 years old - best appliance I own. It's not huge and doubles as a steamer. I've seen similar models by other companies at Target. Very inexpensive. Try one of those.

Yes. Without a doubt the best rice cookers are the ones with fuzzy logic circuitry in them. The fuzzy logic rice cooker does what a real cook does, using its senses and intuition when it is cooking rice, watching and intervening when necessary to turn heat up or down, and reacting to the kind of rice in the pot, the volume and the time needed. When it finished cooking it keeps the rice warm for hours, again, relying on this fuzzy logic. They constantly monitor and adjust cooking temperature to make perfect rice. And since they have a selectable menu you can cook different types of rice. Both of the rice makers listed below have non-stick cooking surfaces on them.

The Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 5-1/2-Cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker and Warmer is a very good and popular rice cooker. I have included a link to Amazon.com so you can read what the people have said that own one of these models of rice cooker. They rate it almost 5 stars with 106 customer reviews, which is exceptionally high. I think that it’s a little pricey at $168.00.

The Panasonic SR-YB05P rice cooker/warmer has a 3-cup uncooked rice capacity. I haven’t read any reviews on this model, because I can’t find them but if it’s a Panasonic they will be very good. It is only $119.95 directly from Panasonic and I’ve included the link. You can also get the larger Panasonic SR-LA18N rice cooker with a 10-cup uncooked rice capacity for the same price, again directly from Panasonic. I have seen it as low as $87.98 from L & T Photo & Electronics. Both Panasonic models also steam vegetables at the same time.

Make sure to check out all of these links. They are very helpful and full of information

I have seen on QVC (or HSN I'm not sure which) Wolfgang Puck's rice cooker. I really want to have one. It is large enough to use as a slow cooker, steamer, rice cooker and many other things I can't remember right now. It looks like the best I've seen for a multi-use appliance.

The perfect steamer is made by a company called Micro-Mac in Calgary Alberta, Canada. Called a Micro Simmer pot.
It is made of a hard see thru plastic. It has a top and bottom only and the top has a 1/4" hole in it to let the steam flow out slowly and evenly while cooking in the microwave. When you are done cooking your rice this simple bowl can be rinsed with cold water and it is clean and ready to go.
One other bonus is that it is even better for preparing frozen vegetables. Just place your frozen veggies in the pot put the top on turn the microwave on for 5 minutes. leave the room and come back whenever the veggies will be cooked perfect without loss of moisture or nutrients.

Get a steamer that makes fresh vegetables as well as steams rice.

Minute Rice is so quick and easy and you don't need a steamer for it... lol

In todays hurry up world = not too many cook rice the old fashioned way...

Go to a store where they sell Asian products, and look for a brand called National.
