They're right about the sweetoil... put some in your ear and keep the cotton there to hold it in. Also, you can try a heating pad, sometimes that helps alleviate the pain. It's possible that you might want to fast for a few days, too. Usually, when your body starts to show signs of sickness it's actually a build up of toxins in that region of your body, flushing your system will also remove alot of those toxins. Try drinking water, and eating raw fruits and veggies for a few days - you can even buy detoxes at the store. That's what I usually do - within a few days I'll feel much better.

Bake or micorwave and onion - use 2-3 drops per ear when you do not have to go out. (smells and when some drips out leaves a white film so you will need a shower in the AM.)
It works because it is in the garlic family and has the same curative qualities.

Other useful info -
Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches).
Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles).
Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago.

Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain.

The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles).

For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from.

Not an expert just a mom...this always worked at our house...dematap or claritin something for sinus drainage... also take ibuprofen for pain and use a heating pad right on the hurting ear...the heating pad soothes as it also rushes blood to that area and the pain releiver is in your blood so it will be concetrated to the ear area. Ibuprofen is also a anti- inflamatory so it will calm the ear down...This will take a half an hour or so to work and then repeat as neccesary with meds as directed on the box (but use the heating pad as often as needed)
...It was always my understanding that ear aches were not something they would prescibe antibiotic for and this probably is being caused by sinus drainage or allergy???goodluck!Obviously seek medical care if it becomes unbearable but I think you can treat this at home!!!

I've heard that organic oregeno oil is a very effective antibiotic/antifungal. I would do more research before putting it in the ear canal. You could mix some white vinegar and alcohol if the infection is in the outer ear. I read some where that is you boil onions and put them in a "clean" old sock, hang it near your bed that it will draw out the congestion. it will be stinky though. Eat some raw garlic.
