I have a black headboard and a black bench that's upholstered a tan colour the rest of my room is white walls with other black accents more or less modern looking. I'm not sure what colour to do my bedding in. Something that will go with the black headboard and somthing to go with the Tan upholstered bench at the end of the bed. any ideas? I was thinking Cream but... i wanted some other options

A mixture of colours (not necessarily busy patterns) in the matching ranges (yellow and yellow-orange ranges) to your tan upholstered bench can give it a quiet alluring feel, e.g. maize+brown+tan. The complexity gives it richness, reducing the austerity of the modern look, but the near-monochromatic range (single colour range) will keep the smart and sophisticated looks of a modern surrounding. You can add black accents to tie it in with the rest of the room, or, you may want to add another accent colour to liven it up.

If you decide to use a single colour, or even single colour with trimming in tan, you may want to try a rich texture to keep it as a soft, inviting focal point in the room.

I see a rich olive for winter. But something more colorful for spring and summer, like coral?? For a better idea of what you might like, try laying different colors of towels, blankets, or even clothes on the bed so you get a little preview of what it might look like.

Red would look good. If that's too much, go with white or cream. Green would be another option.

Think about cinnabar and gold... Great, rich look!
