I am interested in getting a tattoo on my left wrist, just a word, 'hope' in curly writing. I'm a bit unsure because it will be right over veins, and I'm a bleeder. I have von Williebrand's Disease which means that when I get a cut or open wound I bleed a lot longer than other people would; my blood takes longer to clot. When I have surgery I have to have this stuff dripped into me so that I don't bleed to death. I could never get my tonsils taken out.
So, do you think getting a tattoo would be dangerous for me, particularly in this area? Do you I should just not get one at all, or perhaps get one in a different place?
Thanks.

Only your doctor can advise you on this. You would need his/her permission to get a tattoo. The artist is not capable of making this decision for you, especially since the severity of this disease is so varied.
It doesn't matter if the tattoo is over veins, the needle only goes into the skin, not beyond into the blood vessels and when your wrist is being worked on, the position and stretching does not really allow for the veins to be distended.

i to have Von williebrands disease. i have had a few tattoos in my life and have had only the problem off the blood flowing for a longer time but i does stop. the best way to help it stop is to leave the gouge cover on that the tattoo guy puts on for about two days. you will stop bleeding ( it only bleeds ever so slowly and wont trouble you) so don't let Von williebrands disease stop you from doing what you want go for it i say

Ok the thing about tattoos in any area of the body is that a good artist will not go far enough to get to your veins. I don't think the needle can go that deep anyway. The ink is put into the Dermis of the skin, thats the second layer of skin. your viens are like 2 layers under the Dermis. The issue is that you need to talk to your doctor about that. I wouldn't tell you yeah you can then you get it done and something bad happens. Talk to your doctor and see what s/he says.

A tattoo is not deep enough to hit a vein, a tattoo is like getting a bad knee scrape and will on most people bleed lightly. I would check with your doctor first before getting a tattoo and also tell the artist about your condition

i have a tat on my wrist but the top so it doesnt go over any veins (it creeps me out the veins i mean). But the tattoo artists doesnt go that deep to hit any veins. They only go a few skin layers deep! But phone you doc to make sure. Im pretty sure youll be fine though.

Personally, I think it's bad news bears. If you really want a tattoo, I'd honestly get it someplace different. Somewhere.. less sensitive.
Talk to your doctor. Maybe he/she can prescribe something for you to help thicken up your blood before you go to get the tattoo.

the tattoo needles are not going to puncture the veins in your wrist. but you should talk to your doctor about getting a tattoo.

Only the artist doing the actual work
will be able to tell you if it is going to
be a danger. Select a good artist and
get the info you need. It's your best bet.
