Ist it paint thinner, lacquer thinner, water or what?

acrylic is a water based paint, to clean your brushes and tools right after your done use water. As far as thinning the paint to make it flow and easier to work because acrylics and water based paint dry fast to work on surfaces like doors and trim use a product called "Flotrol" good luck

Best advice is to follow the directions for thinning and cleanup that appear on the can. Too much thinning, or thinning with the wrong thinner can easily cause the paint components to seperate which results in severe streaking. I learned this the hard way when I used too much water to thin out some latex paint in an effort to stretch the paint to complete a job. Needless to say, I had to repaint.

I hear, though it sounds odd, nail polish remover (acetone) is a very good thinner for paint.

Water. And you can clean your brushes, paint trays, etc. with water.
