Do people really think nascar fans are poor and uneducated?

Absolutely. I have a post graduate degree and love racing. The vast majority of the drivers are the best guys in sports. No whining about money, no beating up their wives, they aren't found in strip joints at 4 am.

The ignorance and snobbishness of the people of the state of Washington is comparable to them saying they don't want the NBA because their are African Americans that dominate the sport. If they don't want a track or a stadium in their area just say so. Don't make ignorant unfounded statements.

You damn skippy that I'm proud to be a Nascar fan. Anyone who is a fan of Nascar should be proud to be a fan of such a great sport.

A lot of us Nascar fans are not "rednecks" and a lot of us are not white. I myself am a African-American woman and my mother is also a Nascar fan. Nascar fans come from all races, ages, cultures, backgrounds, educations, etc. And yes, some of us Nascar fans are not super rich but that's alright.

As for those who think that we are poor and uneducated. Those people are so close-minded that it isn't even funny. A lot of us Nascar fans have graduated from college and are working "high class" jobs. Heck, a lot of us run our own businesses. Me, I am a 23 year old college senior who is about to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.

Heck...look at a lot of the people who work in Nascar. A lot of them are college graduates. Ryan Newman has his college degree in engineering for crying out loud.

If you don't like Nascar...that's all fine by me as that means that there is more room at the true Nascar fans table for the rest of us. But do not bash us just because you do not like the sport that we love.

I've been to Kansas Speedway 3 times, The Brickyard 400 twice, and found that Nascar Fans are 100% more friendly and educated about our sport than most NFL and MLB fans. They are the most loyal group of people to their favorite drivers even when there drivers don't win. People who bash Nascar don't really know the in's and out's of the sport. We all know there is more to a race than just turning left. Your pit crew, crew chief, and spotters make up 60% of weather or not you win on any given day. Until the public understands what in tails winning a race or even a championship they will always bash the sport.

I have a hard time following Hockey but that is because I don't make it a priority in my "sport world". Will I watch a Hockey game, probably not! Will I call hockey fans names, no, because to each his own. You just have to take it with a grain of salt and know that racing isn't for everyone. We love our sport and that's all that matters................

well i'm only poor cause i shell out all the money i earn at my job to pay for my graduate schooling... i'm on my way to two masters degrees in washington, DC... i dont think nascar fans are uneducated... talk with any fan who has been around the sport since back in the days of earnhardt, yarborough (sorry bout the spelling), allison, darrell waltrip... and even before them with ralph earnhardt and keep going back... i'm a relatively new fan, the first race i ever watched through was daytona 500 2001 (i know, i know :-( ) but recently i've met some people who just astound me with how much they know about this sport and the culture surrounding it and the business aspects... anyone who makes fun of nascar fans is uneducated in how awesome it can be to be one of us!

I am an accounting major two years away from my Bachelor's degree with a 3.6 GPA, working two part-time jobs. I LOVE NASCAR and am not afraid to admit I am a fan... Who cares if some dumb*** thinks all NASCAR fans are stupid rednecks who drive around in rusty pickups and beat up tractors in ripped overalls drinking sweet tea and molasses while listening to Merle Haggard driving to the local tractor pull show or watching a rerun of hee haw. We're not all like that. I am a smart, educated, southern Nascar fan.

I don't like the recent changes in NASCAR and I think they need to go back to a "stock" vehicle with safety and speed modifications of course, frankly I prefer road course and offroad rally driving as more of a challenge, but I would rather side with NASCAR fans any day then a bunch of prissy left coasters or politicians who run down rural Americans and what they choose for a sport. IT"S A FREE COUNTRY, at least until the left coasties surrender to communist China.

Yeah I am proud. I'm a pretty smart person and I tell everyone I know that NASCAR is good to watch. I know a lot of smarter people than me who love watching it as well. Its one of those things I love to watch and dream that I could actually drive that fast in a car like that. It would be a fun life to have.

Yes I am proud to be a Nascar fan. I am educated with a six figure income, so I don't care if some people are so ignorant that they categorize people. Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan.

Not a huge fan myself. Heck, shooting marbles is good to watch, it keeps kids of the streets stealing your tires while your inside watching NASCAR. As far as uneducated, wouldn't go there.
