when the heater is set on 74 the heater blows very hot even when warm outside

if the air comming out is too warm then adjust your thermostat to a lower number 74 is pretty hot try 65

My father has the same car. His was doing the exact same thing. I got him a Heater/AC control unit from the salvage yard. That fixed the problem for a while.

You can try resetting the Heater/AC control unit by pulling off the woodtrim/vinyl that surrounds the unit. Take out the four screws that hold the control unit in. I believe they are a torx or 8mm head screw. Then pull out the control unit and disconnect the electrical connections. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes. Turn off the car completely and then plug the unit back in.

Try doing this first before checking to see if the AC system has refrigerant, if the clutch on the mechanical fan is working, if the AC compressor and or AC compressor clutch is working, and finally if the low pressure cycle switch is good.

Do you hear a nosie in the top of the dash most Towncars blend door activater that opens and closes the blend door breaks and you will here the motor trying to open or close the blend door so it sounds like yours maybe stuck on hot.

Don't run the heater on automatic. The automatic air temperature sensor is probably not good anymore

check your heater temperature sensor........ford comfort system,s have had there problem,s...........also check your vent mixture door,s......could have a bad servo!
