Every time I think of an oxymoron the title of the Movie TRUE LIES comes to mind. If its true then how can it be a lie? Therefor an oxymoron is a statement that breaks down and destroys the statement at hand. For Example if a Lie is true then its not a lie so the statement is false. Had the movie been called Truly Lies then no harm no foul.

Think of an oxymoron as calling something the opposite of what it actually is. For example, in regards to someone's diamond bracelet; you might say "that ice is hot" meaning the diamond bracelet is really nice. This is just one way to look at it.

We were taught way back when, when we were sophomores in high school- sophomore is an oxymoron meaning "wise fool." INdeed, it is 2 words together which when separate are opposite terms, or antonyms. Redundant, of course, means 2 words together which are synonyms.
