mister ss is right. I'm a die hard Chevy fan and it kills me to say this, but the '91 Mustang is definitely lighter and faster than the Monte Carlo SS, not to mention the Mustang has a good 40hp+ on your Monte as well.

Maybe invest in bottle of giggle gas and then blow the 'stang's doors off! :D

Cheers, sorry for bursting your bubble

If they're both stock, the Mustang wins hands down. The Mustang weighs about 3000 pounds with 225 horsepower and 300 ft. lb. of torque. The Monte Carlo weighs about 3800 and has 190 horsepower and 275 ft. lb. of torque (I think from memory, but I know the horsepower is right if it's the stock 305 HO). Sorry, I'm a Ford guy and I'll still tell you the Monte Carlo is a great car, but why do you think there are numerous magazines dedicated to the 5.0 Mustang, and when you open any of them, there are ALOT of pictures of drag racing. By the way, there is also a drag racing association dedicated to the Mustang (NMRA). Don't want to burst your bubble, but the Foxbody Mustang 5.0 is what started all of this hype. It was the fastest non turboed American car that could be bought until the early '90s when Chevrolet added some horsepower to the Corvette, and then the Camaro. Also, I have a '92 LX "5.0" (ahem!), and I will tell you, VERY FEW of these cars are stock these days. Beware!!!

I had a '92 5.0 five speed LX convertible with the optional 3.08 rear end. I feared nothing on the road this side of a 'Vette. Not only is the 5.0 incredibly quick winding up, but the Mustang is lighter, much lighter. The 80's were really, really DARK days for gear heads, big cars, no horses......

yea the mustang would win its lighter more aero dynamic shorter wheel base better suspension and more power. I love camaro's and monte carlo's but when you drive a mustang and relaize the little money you can put in these cars and make them go like crazy then your hooked. All though I like to be different I drive 2 capri's

The Mustang should demolish the Monte SS. Stock to stock I would bet my money on.

Assuming the engines had identical power outputs using the same fuel, identical differential ratios, identical transmissions, and equally skilled drivers, racing on identical surfaces, the mustang would likely win because it is lighter, has a lower profile and a smaller frontal area.

The mustang, smaller lighter and better suspension/drive system.

If both are stock vehicles the mustang would win.

If the engines aren't modified, I'd have to go with the Mustang!
