Okay here goes,
I'm a junior, and I'm just ready to crack. I've started visiting colleges, my parents are arguing right now about where I should go and I want to scream really loudly. I'm a good student, I do all the right stuff but I don't want to freak out about getting in someplace yet. My family doesn't have a lot of money so I need scholarships pretty badly or awesome financial aid. I just want to forget about the SATs and all of the other things oriented towards college. I mean I am concerned about college, and over the summer I'll have to start working on college apps but I mean right now I just want a break! I want to do stupid stuff, and not worry about everything. Then to top it off, my Mom just told me that Bennington would be a reach for me if I wanted to get in, and she said that it was because of money. Something like 80% of the people going there get some form of financial aid. Nearning a melt down point, someone please help.

You parents know how tough it is in the "real world" and want to make sure you get into a good college so that your future is good. Sit down and have a mature conversation with them and let them know you know that it is important and that you have always put your education first and about your plans for the summer and sending in the applications. Then tell them that all the pressure of doing it now is stressing you out and that you need them to back off a bit. Let them know you appreciate their help with it all but it is a little over the top and they certainly shouldn't be arguing over it. In the end it is your choice of where you go to school (outside of the school has to accept your first). You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and I think you will make the right choice. I applaud you for being so in tune with what you need to do to get set for college. I have a step son that is a junior and it is like pulling teeth for us to get him on the right track.

Good luck!

I would talk with your parents AFTER you've taken a break! What I do to release tension is scream really loud in my pillow, have a cup of hot tea, then have a bath. Relaxing yourself before doing something intense like that can help you make better choices in a situation. Keep being confident in yourself and you'll be okay!
