I am having a dinner party and I would like it all athenic irish dinner

IRISH SODA BREAD

Ingredients :
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. raisins
1 3/4 c. buttermilk

Preparation :
Sift flour. Add baking soda, powder and sugar. Add butter to
dry ingredients until crumbly. Add raisins. If you want, you can
add orange and lemon peel or cut up dry mixed fruit. Add 1 3/4 cups
of buttermilk. Knead mixture on floured board - several times.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour or until done.

3 eggs
1 pint sour cream
1 cup raisins
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease two 8x4 inch loaf pans.
Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add the eggs, sour cream and raisins and mix until just combined. Distribute batter evenly between the two pans.
Bake loaves at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 1 hour.

Try this one, original Irish Soda Bread.....
574g sieved plain flour
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1/2 to 3/4 pt buttermilk (or sour milk)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
Small drop of fresh milk
1 teaspoon creme de tartar (or baking powder)
25g caster sugar

Heat the earthenware dish and grease with a little lard.
Mix all the dry ingredients in a basin and make a well in the center.
Pour in nearly all the milk and egg, gather in the flour and mix to a loose dough, adding more milk if necessary.
With floured hands, knead lightly on a floured board or table, make a rounded loaf shape score (x) a cross on top.
Place dough in dish, cover with warmed lid.
Pre-heat oven 220 cl (gas 7) cook for 40 min's
Tip: To keep the bread soft, wrap in a clean damp tea towel
when it is taken out of the oven.
Great with Irish Stew, Cabbage & Bacon or Colcanny Potatoes or with a nice cup of tea with honey cream or gooseberry jam

preheat oven to 350 grease large baking sheet. Sift 4 cups all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt in large bowl. add 1 tablespooncaraway seeds cut in 1/3 cup shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture coarse crumbs. stir in 1 cup raisins or currants. In medium bowl beat 1 large egg with fork then add 1 3/4 cup buttermilk to egg and blend well. add to flour mixture. stiiring to form soft dough. form to a ball. knead gently on a well floured surface 10 to 12 times. place on greased baking sheet and pat into a 7 inch round, svcore top of dough with sharp knife making an x 4 in long and 1/4 in deep. bake 55 to 60 minutes or until toothpick comes our clean. Immmediatly remove from baking sheet and cool on wire rack. 12 servings

makes one loaf

preheat the oven for 450 F

bake for 15 minutes
lover oven to 400 F and cook for 30 minutes more..
