I used mounting tape to stick a thick poster on the wall, and now I've taken it out, but the mounting tape remains! Any suggestions how I can remove it? Here's pictures of what it looks like:

Thank you!

That is some nasty looking stuff. Have you tried warming the tape with a hair dryer, and they peeling it off? Once warm, the gule usually is easier to peal.

I fear if you try a chemical removal, you will ruin the paint job on the wall, and I assume you don't want that.

I don't need to look at your pictures; I've seen it first hand. You might try Goo Gone or something like that . . . In the past, I have just removed it with whatever I could, patched and re-painted. If you're going to put this stuff on a painted wall . . and want to remove it later on, you're going to have a problem. This is based on my experience, maybe someone else can help us both.

Scrape as much of it off as you can without damaging the plaster, drywall, or paint. Keep dabbing Goo-Gone on the adhisive that is left and carefully wipe off and reapply as many times as necessary until all is removed. This is a tedious job, but you will accomplish your task in the end.

Good luck with your adhesive problem.

On eliminating it is going to probable take off a layer of paint. recommend that on the factors the place the mountings are you place on a coat of a few sparkling matt varnish. A nail varnish will do and then restoration tiles whilst that's easily dry. This wil give up the paint peeling off.

try using a degeasing cleaner like simple green...... there are also graffitti cleaners in sprays or wiping cloths, if a degreaser wont work, try using a graffiti remover....
