If someone is exposed to the HIV virus one would test positive usually in 25 days but could take up to three months and in a few rare cases some have tested positive by 6 months. Remember if one has been exposed to HIV that person can pass it to another immediately afterward even if testing negative at the time. Be sure to always be safe and use Latex, Latex, Latex.

A friend of mine got stabbed and it was not present. Three month later he got shot and it showed up. They say get tested every six months to see if you are h.i.v. positive so you won't have to pay for too many medical bills especially when you have Medicaid. But in 3 months it should show up.

It can take up to 6 months for the common HIV screening test to show that you are positive, so in general it's recommended that you're tested after you think you've been exposed, then again in 6 months.

You can use your zip code to find the nearest clinics for free, anonymous HIV tests at www.hivtest.org.
