The only Duramax heater plug I've ever noticed was on the passenger side, between the battery and the headlight. I'm not disagreeing with the guy who builds 'em, or the guy quoting the manual, but it seems it could be on either side...

Turn off the engine.
Open the hood and unwrap the electrical cord. The cord is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment, near the power steering fluid reservoir.
Plug the cord into a normal, grounded 110-volt AC outlet.

Eric is right. It is on the right side of the engine (passenger side), at the back lower edge of the air filter box, down along the frame. You will see a wire that goes from the engine, straight over to the frame, about half way back.
P.S. Did you try reading your owners manual? It should say in there.

Should be bundled up on the frame left side of motor. This is where they route them at the assembly plant I work at. Take the zip tie off and finish running it out the grill or just under the grill.

if you,ll look on the left side of the engine it will probably be there probably with a wire tie around it,its usually on that side though and will either go in the side freeze plug or the front one, what you can do is pull it through the grill, and fix it to stay in there and it will be out of sight but you can get to it easy, good luck with it.
