Below is some part of the newspaper article:

In an incident that at first left police incredulous, two men were charged Thursday in Southington with shooting a man in the leg with a blowgun. Police said the man was shot as he walked out of a store on Queen Street.

The man was one of three people shot apparently at random in the space of half an hour Thursday in Plainville and Southington. In all three cases, the attackers drove past their victim as they fired, police said.

Arrested were Jason Plourde, 27, of Waterbury, and Edward Youle, 33, of Southington. Police said they found three blowguns and a box of darts in their sport-utility vehicle.

"They thought it was funny," Southington Police spokesman Sgt. Lowell DePalma said.

No one was seriously hurt, but one of the victims in Plainville went to the hospital to get a tetanus shot, said Plainville police Lt. Brian Mullins.

The attacks occurred on busy stretches of road, and the two in Plainville occurred less than half a mile apart.

A few minutes later, a woman pumping gas at a service station a short distance from the shopping center was hit in the back.

what they did is illegal and is not accepted by civilized society. When you break the laws that society has deemed important, you deserve punishment. Whether that is jail, fine etc depends on a lot of factors. Theoretically, a dart could blind someone or cause very serious injuries and in rare cases, maybe even death. It also creates public alarm and fear. Personally, I feel some jail time is warranted, because people have a right to go about their lives without fear of being randomly assaulted in public. Punishment is not only for the criminal, it is also to be a dterent to future people doing the same thing.

Yes, they need to be tried as if they threw a rock or shot a bb gun at the victims. It was still a serious weopon that could have been deadly. Plus who knows where the darts come from. They should also have to pay for the doctors and blood tests that need to take place.

Yes, I feel that they should serve some county time, pay restituition on any medical expenses, and provide a community serve of something fitting of the crime. Prisons are overpopulated, men playing a "joke" like this may not need jail time to learn there lesson and a prolonged sentence for men of that age my futher institionalize someone who might have learned for a more laxed puinishment.

Yes. What ignorant, lame a** men. I don't care what they shot them with. The fact is, they shot at innocent people while driving by and thought it was funny. Doesn't matter if it was bullets, rocks, garbage, banana peel or darts. Maybe some time in jail will make them think twice before acting so stupid.
