I am 17 and my mom has always had a problem with me dating. I think she will overreact about my new boyfriend because he is 19 and out of school. I need help. Should I tell her or leave her in the dark?? My younger brother knows about him.

Lying only makes it worse not only for your family but for your relationship.

You should tell your mom before she finds out herself and you'll be in trouble. Its always good to let your parents know that way they'll trust you more. And I have done that myself. My parents didnt want me to date because my last boyfriend was an asshole and a liar and they having trouble trusting a teen guys after that. So when I had a new boyfriend...who's really great by the way...they took a while to accept him as my boyfriend it was ugly at first but now it all paid off. And he visit me every weekend at my house.

I have gone though the same exact thing and I hid it from my parents and let me tell you I hated every single moment that I had to lie to them about it. So my opinion is to tell your mom she might get upset or something but it is way better than lying to your parents.

dont tell her b/c later on u can use it against her cuz when she finds out on her own then she'll get mad but u can tell her that she isnt being fair cuz ur almost an adult and responsible and someday u'll be on ur own and she needs to trust u basically u need to argue with her about it and make her know that shes not being fair

If you're getting serious about this guy, talk to her calmly about it. Judge her reaction by bringing it up as a possibility, and make sure she's not going to flip about it.
