What the child's nationality would be? Some countries don't automatically accept a child born in their land as their citizen if none of the parents is their national. Which citizenship is the child going to fall under? EU or US? Both?

We're expatriates.

I'm not American, I'm European!! If we are both Americans I don't have to ask this question.

Your child will be an American because of it's father - just make sure to register the birth at your nearest US Embassy. All countries in the EU are different though and each have their own laws regarding citizenship - but there is a good possibility your baby will also have the same citizenship as you, which will make it a dual-citizen. :-)

I believe a child is considered a a citizen if the mother is a citizen. However, it is possible that this is only the case when the mother becomes a citizen (not if she was born in America).

If both parents are American citizens and the child is born elsewhere, then the child is an American. Paperwork will need to be filed (probably for a social security card).

I don't know. If it is a serious question, check here:

If you were both from the US, your child's citizenship here would be automatic, although you would have to file a paper. This scenario I am not sure about.
