Do you get what I'm trying to say? What if somehow we were mislead and we thought we were worshiping God but were instead worshiping Baal and the one that we thought was Baal is instead God? ...

I don't think it would make much of a difference. People will believe what they wish to, so does it really matter all that much?

God is Baal, and Baal is God.
The Canaanites weren't worshiping the wrong God, they were worshiping Him the wrong way. The Hebrew equivalent of "Baal" is "Bel," or "Lord," and was frequently used in reference to JHVH.

It's possible that some of the characteristics to describe Baal (in Canaanite mythology) are actually included in the hebrew scriptures (old testament) as descriptions of "God". Maybe your question isn't too far off lol
