all my life, i just cant show any emotions when i hear something negative. Like For Example, when my grandfather died a few years ago, I didnt even feel anything, i didn't cry at his funeral. Now my mom just told me, she has a brain tumor. Im just like "oh ok". People think im weird and I dont care about my mother, thats not it, its just i cant show any emotions. To me its like the saying "it is, what it is".

That is called stoicism. It was generally used on purpose... but hey, it's kinda a good thing that you're so in control.

You know I understand where you are coming from. I lost both Parents and a Grandparent in the space of two years before I even was out of high school. My Dad was the last of the three to die and I think I was just emotionally short circuited. It's been 20 years since I graduated and I am still that way. The saying it is what it is seems to be my life's motto. Only down sides to it like you said people misjudge you thinking you don't care about anything and I tend to let things bottle up inside of me and I have to go blow off steam sometimes. Don't know if this rambling will help you any but you are not alone.

I typically see this condition at this severity level in folks who may have Asperger syndrome, High Functioning Autism, Reciprocal interaction disorder, schizoid personality disorder or some other character disorder (antisocial, etc.). There's not enough here to go on, but there's enough to suggest that "weird" as you say, may just be the tip of the iceberg.

Consider seeing a professional and getting a comprehensive psychiatric/psychological evaluation. The interesting part will be what you do with the information or if you take this advice seriously.

do you get excited when you are about to get on a rollercoaster?
are you happy when you have your favourite lunch?
do you have the emotion of love?
im sure you must have SOME emotions, but i just think that you realize that life is life and it must go on.
i wish i could think like that,
but when something tragic happens to me, the thought flies out of my mind.
anyways back to you,
its the little things in life that make you happy.
stop and smell the roses, and smile, too.
doesn't it just feel great when you finish a puzzle, or ace a math test?
those are emotions too, you know.

i just think that you DO have emotions, but not like the ones like your grandfather dying [btw, im sorry] or your mom having a brain tumor.
you realize that life goes on, and thats good.

i think i have a similar problem
do you think logically about the situation?
do you think about how to solve that situation without letting emotions get involved

then you are like me

it can be good and bad
the good is that you do not have to deal with the emotions and c an get right at the problem and therefore solve it faster
on the other hand
people might think it is disrespectful
dont let it bother you

btw
my mom is recovering from a brain tumor
email me and tell me about your mom's situation

People are different in showing emotions. In this case, you might feel a lot of sadness and pain inside, but never show it, or, you just prefer not to delve into it. If there can be normal people that show too much emotion, why can't there be normal people that doesn't show it?

If you said "Oh, okay" to your mom and felt an inner sadness that's fine. However, if it didn't do anything to you than I would really worry. It's not normal not to grief when something happens to a loved one. Not everyone cries and shows that but they feel it inside. If you feel nothing, then I would dig up some memories and ask yourself what made you that way.

It is just the way some people are, everyone is different and you have that type of personality and deal with things that way. Someday this could change, but it might not. It isn't that you don't care it is just that you show your emotions in a different way as the years go by it could change.

I think all people have emotions. " It is what it is' suggests a more pragmatic approach to life, than most people. That's okay. I never understood why people put flowers on a grave, because I would like to get them, when I'm alive and can enjoy them! You see, it's all a matter of perspective.

Your defense mechanism is repression. Your brain is pushing unpleasant emotions into your unconscious. It isn't your fault--some people repress more readily than others. Your feelings ARE there, however, you just don't have conscious access to them. If it deeply bothers you, you could see a psychotherapist who can help you unearth your feelings.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. :-(

That is just the way you think. I myself do not see anything wrong with your not showing emotions. You do not control any given situation. God holds the future, for all of us. We can not stop anything God wants to happen.
