I think in one year you can learn the basics. But it might take a couple more to get it perfect.

at least 6 months- thats how long it took raffles to learn malay on a ship from england to singapore

1 year if u live in the country - probably fluently too

maybe a few years if u do it at uni where its easy going like 3 or 4 years and thats not even well- you should still go tutoring to brush up

It depends how much you study the language. If you are like hardcore studying it, then probably in a couple years....but if you are like me and me learning German, then years and years and years lol Cuz I haven't been studying it that often lately. And then it also helps if you actually go to the native language's country. And that will help you become even more fluent, because you need to actually communicate the language and not just write it and read it....

im latvian and i speak fluent russian and english and a little german.
i can tell you that latvian is not an easy language to learn, its very complicated and i know people who live in Latvia study it for years.
but if you are determined...good luck!

It all depends on how often you speak it. i am in my 4th year of spanish, and i still dont have all the kinks worked out yet. my advice, is keep studying, and try to find someone who speaks the language fluently. it helps immensely. having a teacher helps too. just keep your eyes open for opportunities.

!!buena suerte!! (good luck)

I think about four or more years. I'm taking my third year in spanish but I don't really speak it fluently yet. I still have to stop and think about what I'm gonna say.

Probably would depend on the person and the amount of interest you have in it. No other languages have stuck in my head other then one I've had interest in learning.
