Had the stomach flu, did the throwing up no eating for three days thing, drank only sprite, etc etc. it's the fifth day after my illness and I used to love to eat and now it makes me feel sick to my stomach. My stomach keeps churning and grumbling but not in a hungry way, in an angry, gonna-be-sitting-on-the-toilet-for-an-hour way. how do I make this stop? What should I eat/drink? Medicine? Thanks guys :-)

Eat light. If you're still having diarrhea, eat a BRAT diet: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. That will provide some bulk and firm up your BM's. Be sure to drink enough fluids like water, flat coke, no citrus, NO DAIRY.

If your bowels seem semi-ok, you can eat things like chicken noodle soup, chicken rice soup, crackers, jello, toast, applesauce, light fare. Stay away from dairy products until your stomach stops the wild gurgling. Stay away from citrus until you're eating ok. Drink flat Coke or watered-down Gatorade to help replenish your potassium.

It's only day 5. Don't push it. If you eat little bits at a time throughout the day, and stay away from gassy and troublesome foods (like dairy) you should be eating better in another 5 days.

You're pushing yourself way too hard. This type of flu may take days to fully recover from. Just relax and your stomach will tell you what to eat and how much. Rushing things will only make you feel worse.

I had the same thing and it took about three weeks before I could really eat much meat or things like that. I stuck with oatmeal lots of fruits and nuts nothing to heavy like beef. Chicken was easier to digest. Also drink alot of water and eat alot of fiber type foods, I used metamucil to help clear my intestines out. Take it slow. God bless.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!

For the next few days, eat only jello, broth and maybe popcycles. Let your stomach rest. Drink lots of fluids, including water.

Eat yogurt and and fruit to make you regular. All that liquid messed up your digesting and you'll have problems for a day or two. It will pass. Take some tums or peptal bismal to ease your stomach. Hope you feel better!

Stick with the ABC diet for a few days (Apples, Bananas or Bread, and Cereal). Avoid dairy, greasy, citric, or fattening foods. You should be feeling normal again soon. Get well!
