My son has recently started his first phase of orthodontic treatment. His doctor told us that the kind of bite a person has will cause him/her to be a mouth breather. If your son is a mouth breather he will drool more. You may want to have him seen by an orthodontist to see if he may need orthodontic care.

He might be a mouth breather because he's not breathing well through his nose. Have you considered using Breathe Right strips for him? You can get those at Wal Mart, Walgreens, Target, etc. They help open up the nasal passages to allow more air through. Maybe that will help his mouth breathing.
