Christianity is always years behind "the rest of society." It's in Deut. I think.

Back when people would go to "picture shows" it was "sinful. Then Mel Gibson and Narnia came along and it was hunky dory for the Christers. A longer time ago than that, Christian women couldn't wear pants and riding a bike was considered sinful. But give the christians 10 years or so and they're out there riding bikes and wearing those pants.

Have you ever looked in a christian womens "fashion" magazine. I saw one called "Godly Woman" a few years ago and am scarred for life. Needless to say, they were on the cutting edge of 1980s fashion --- but it was in 2004.

Dude where have you been the last 20yrs? Christian Rock has been around since the '80s with Stryper, Petra, Blood Good, Rez Band and more.

But, to answer your question. Music is neither good or bad, but when the band adds lyrics that are less than desirable it becomes sinful.

I will say that there are many that share your view both old and young. My brother was a big fan of secular music and could not understand why Christians were copycatting the music. Well, nothing I could say would change his mind.

But the truth is Music has been changing and adapting and new people come and go leaving their touch upon it both good and bad. One day Rock will change more and Christian youth will make it their own as well.

Christians as a culture (not as a religion) tend to change what is acceptable to their god on a regular basis. For example, most Christians today think slavery is anti-Christian and that women should be allowed to own property and divorce.

Who knows what Christians will believe next?

Part of the problem, then and now, is that if a thing is not mentioned in the Bible (pop music isn't, pornography isn't, and homosexuality isn't (despite intentional mistranslations and out of context quotes to claim it is)) many Christians will just make up their reactions to it based on what some of the people they like say about it.

It's pretty awful, but not as bad as when they make claims that things are in the bible that aren't.

That's why the mythology of their older traditions includes a special place in hell for translators of the Abrahamic sacred texts, btw.

Neither extremely. they have a really healthful relationship with god (even as it is composed of music i does no longer learn about their own lives of route). They take excitement in god yet also see distinct the fallacies in his existence. they don't look like wanna be unique bands that say such issues as ( screw god God's a lie) yet they do tutor the elegance of god of their songs (God is an magnificent metaphor for ask your self and skill). I dont understand if i'd call them a rock band. they extremely have redefined their music this style of large volume of cases. i'd say they're a band who opt for to make music that contact the most embedded inner fabrics of human emotion ( it truly is usually a rock music often times a pop music often times undefinable genres). properly that is extremely merely my opinion wish you concentration on it. And heavily you're tremendous cool for liking Zooropa heavily most suitable album (you understand someone is severe even as they use heavily two times in a sentence.)

It's still sinful...Christian rock is not Christian. It's a compromise, and it's selling out.

What kind of christian religion are you in? Why would rock and roll be sinful?

Yeah, like those good ol' Smashing Pumpkin boys. Talking about religion, who do they think they are, bunch of weirdos. Billy Corgan is no BS faker though, compared to bands like DC Talk........Billy succeeded because he had talent and vision, not some prepubescent wannabe boyband tough guys. Religion is OK in music, but do it like Smashing Pumpkins, NIN, Manson or any art rockers of old. It's like they were creating religion, not preaching some old mans hypocritical church sermon. Bands like DC Talk, Newsboys, Jars of Clay totally took advantage of religion for controlling the mass of uneducated christian preteens that are scared of gods and spirits......SP & NIN made religion hip and original for a wasted youth. Those are my thoughts.

If you can't beat em join em. I think the church realized that unless it showed a 'hip' side they would never keep younger members interested with theology alone - it needed to be dressed up for them. So viola... christian rock.

Myself, I'll stick with Ozzy & NIN though.
