In a previous Yahoo! question, "Faith" was "given by God" and "Religion" was "made by man." What is the difference between the teachings of the bible itself and popular religions today, such as Catholicism? Please answer unbiasedly and give me a source of your information.

I do not believe Jesus is "Christ." I do not believe religion.

Is the issue even relevant?
The role of the Bible in the Church has changed dramatically over the centuries. The modern view of the Bible as the 'solely sufficient,' inerrant, 'Logos' of God is completely foreign to the traditional Christian religious paradigm. Ancient Creeds and Confessions didn't even feel the need to mention the Bible, let alone define its contents or specify a standardized model of interpretation. The "canon of Scripture" was not universally addressed until the 6th century, and even then the 'canonical' Scripture did not match what was in use by the Churches, and was never adopted by any Church (including modern Protestants).

Most "popular" religions have deviated from the pure form of Christianity initiated by Christ Jesus. Over the years, pagan celebrations and beliefs have been intertwined into "popular" Christianity, creating a tainted form of worship in God's eyes. But, these things were foretold:
In an illustration Jesus likened himself to a sower of fine seed, and the seed to “sons of the kingdom.” Another sower, an enemy who sows weeds in the field, is the Devil. Here Jesus was evidently foretelling an apostasy to come, when, in and among the Christian congregation, there would be men falsely claiming to be servants of God and attempting to defile the congregation and to draw away the disciples.—Mt 13:24-30, 36-43; compare Ac 20:29; 2Co 11:12-15; 2Th 2:3-9; 1Ti 4:1; 2Ti 4:3, 4; 2Pe 2:1-3.
If you look at the origin of holidays and traditions of "popular" religion, you will find them all steeped in paganism, something the 1st century Christians strongly avoided. So, to me, there is definitely a difference between the Bible and Religion, because so many refuse to adhere to the sacred teachings of it.

Your question is way too involved to give you a detailed answer here. However, I would suggest you read....rather STUDY with a prayerful attitude....the Bible for yourself. Then, IF you still want to know where popular religions differ from the teachings of the Bible....and believe me they do....you would have to study their literature or ask their priests/pastors/elders/leaders. I can assure you that you will find it to be a very interesting comparison. But be prepared to hear that you don't have the ability to understand the Bible for yourself, therefore you have come to the wrong interpretation when what you have learned from your study differs with their "doctrines of men". But do not be misled. The Bible interprets itself for you if you ask God for wisdom and guidance.

Religion makes the claim that our interpretation of the Bible is from God. But the Bible is too ambiguous for a single interpretation.

"religion" is only worth anything if it's teachings are based on the Bible, the word of God.
