My stair carpet is cream so what colour should i paint the walls?

Since cream is a fairly neutral color, you can paint it just about any color that you want. In the end, it is your place and it is you who will have to live with the color. Don't worry about what other people say, paint it the color you want and enjoy.

if there's no natural light in the hallway then paint it a nice bright color, even just plain white. If you use a dark color your stairwell will look alot smaller and dungeony.

i think white will go well with cream or even a sunset orange
