Would you think China is more of a threat or a competitor?

Miltarily they might be a competitor. But what about economically?

On second thought, who didi the assessing? It wasn't our faulty" intelligence" was it? What "they say" should have no bearing as to how YOU perceive the threat.

It's paranoia. The American mindset had always been that if any nation on earth becomes economically powerful, it is always perceived as a threat to the U.S..

They just said it's not a threat, and their Military capabilities is no where near as ours. No matter how much they are spending on their military, it is no where near as good as ours nor will it be in the near future.

Competitor. They have no reason to start a war with us, as our economies are both twined together. Starting a war would cause both of our countries to suffer and unnecessary death.
