The website below mentions 20 grams/licorice per day has a potential effect. This is licorice root itself.

The other website quotes 50 gm (about 1.75 ounces) /day increased bp 3.5 mm Hg, while those that ate 200 gm (1/2 pound) per day had an increase of 14 mm Hg (mercury).
This is from eating it every day.

If you eat it once in awhile, you're probably fine. Just don't start eating 1/2 pound a day... which just points to the idea of moderation witht the black licorice candy.

licorice isn't bad for you. a lot of people eat it at the movies!

Black licorice actually is considered good for you.

no actually black licorice, is great for acid in digestion, and it makes your breath smell great!!
