If it was'nt illegal would you still do it? Personally i would not take the risk anything could happen....is it really worth the risk?

it is the stupidest idea ever.....common sense would tell you in only takes 40 seconds to get your child out of the car seat, lock your doors, shut them and walk into the store WITH your child
and 5 minutes later you are done in the store.....Don't leave your child in a car alone EVER!!!!! What in the world would you feel like if someone took your car with your child in it? IT DOES HAPPEN....Don't take the chance just because you think it will only be a few short moments in a store.....good luck

I sure hope so. Are you nuts? Can you imagine what could happen to a kid in five minutes? When my son was three, he would have disassembled the entire steering column in five minutes. I won't leave my $350 dog in a car for one minute so why would you leave a kid for even a second? They've been showing on TV that it takes 6 seconds for someone to break out a car window, grab a package and be gone and asking that we don't leave valuables in the car. Does a child qualify? Can I please be on the jury?

I hope it is. A child should never be left in a car, locked or unlocked, by themselves for any period of time. If I see that I report it. I'm not looking for it, but I have reported it once. A kid was crying in a car that was locked and it was about 90 degrees outside, the car was black and not one window was cracked. The mother who left that baby was getting her nails done. She was arrested for child abuse and paid a fine. I'll do it again if I see it. Remember, at 90 degrees outside, a car will heat up to 160 degrees on the inside in about 20 mins. Don't do it if you love your child. If I see you, I will report you.

It is child endangerment. There wouldn't need to be a specific law for leaving a child unattended.

All of these answers are hyperventilating hooey. It is roughly 150 times as dangerous to simply put your child in a car and drive somewhere, as it is to leave him in the car parked. In 2013 about 44 children died in locked cars, while about 6700 died in traffic accidents. Open all the windows and run your brief errand. And tell any busybodies to f-off.

Unattended Children in Texas
It is illegal in Texas to leave a child under 7 years old unattended in a vehicle for any period of time. Children under 7 years old must be accompanied by an individual who is 14 years old or older, or you risk being fined up to $500 and investigated by Child Protective Services.
So if the child is seven or older then it okay to leave a child in a car. The primary concern for leaving a child in a car is heat. So be careful in warm months.

what kind of selfish, short-sighted, inconsiderate moron would ask a question so stupid? if your kids are such a bother, give them to someone smarter than you, and keep your legs together from now on.i can't believe a remotely responsible parent would even think this.
